Seal of Biliteracy at Dakota Ridge High School

Dakota Ridge High School (DRHS) proudly offers the Seal of Biliteracy program, recognizing students who demonstrate proficiency in multiple languages. This prestigious achievement celebrates linguistic excellence and prepares students for success in a globalized world, showcasing their ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries.

World Language Criteria
English/Reading, Writing and Communicating Criteria

World Language Criteria

Students must complete one of the following options with the required proficiencies and scores shown:

	Colorado Seal of Biliteracy	Jeffco Seal of Biliteracy
Option 1: For students who have completed coursework in their language(s)¹	A completion of four years of high-school equivalent world language courses with an unweighted average of 3.0 or higher for those classes.	A completion of four years of high-school equivalent world language courses with an unweighted average of 3.0 or higher for those classes AND a demonstration of oral proficiency at the intermediate-mid level (i.e., AAPPL Oral Speaking/Listening test).
Option 2: For students who do not have four years of a WL and/or achieve a 3.0 GPA in that WL OR For students whose language is not offered through coursework	A qualifying test score that includes speaking, listening, reading and writing² . AP³ = ≥ 3: Languages tested: Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, and Spanish IB⁴ = ≥ 4: Languages tested: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, and Russian AAPPL = ≥ I-3: Languages tested: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish STAMP4S = ≥ 5: Languages tested: Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese (simplified/traditional), Polish, Portuguese(Brazilian), Russian, and Spanish

Option 1:

For students who have completed coursework in their language(s)¹

A completion of four years of high-school equivalent world language courses with an unweighted average of 3.0 or higher for those classes.

English/Reading, Writing and Communicating Criteria

The original Colorado Seal of Biliteracy legislation requires one of four English tests (SAT, ACT, IB, AP) in addition to meeting graduation requirements of four years of English with an unweighted average of 3.0 or more in those classes.

Jeffco students can also meet English criteria for the Jeffco Seal of Biliteracy by meeting graduation requirements of four years of English with an unweighted average of 3.0 or more in those classes AND one of the demonstrations of postsecondary workforce readiness in reading, writing and communicating listed below. Please note which demonstrations apply to the different Seals.

Seal of Biliteracy in Jeffco

The Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition awarded to students who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in at least one world language and English by high school graduation. Students in Jeffco can earn the Jeffco Seal of Biliteracy, the Colorado Seal of Biliteracy, or both.
