Dakota Ridge High School Library Media Center

I am a proud Jeffco community member having lived and worked here most of my life. I graduated from Green Mountain High School, received my BA in English/Language Arts from Colorado State University, and my MA in Education from the satellite campus of the University of Phoenix at Denver. I met my husband, Dan, also a Jeffco graduate, at CSU and we have two amazing children who grew up in Jeffco schools and graduated from Bear Creek High School, earned degrees from Colorado Universities, and are now living and working in Jefferson County.

I began teaching in 1988 and have spent the majority of my career teaching English/Language Arts. In the fall of 2014 I left the classroom and spent the next two years at the District's Education Center working as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) on a  professional development grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. During this time I developed and implemented district wide professional learning of the Literacy Design Collaborative training, supporting, and coaching teachers to design disciplinary literacy instruction.

After the grant's end I became the Digital Teacher Librarian at Dakota Ridge where I have the opportunity to combine my experience in teaching with my interest in instructional technology and my passion for literacy and reading. I love working with the dedicated staff at this incredible school.
