Spring Testing is Here!

Students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades across the state of Colorado will be taking part in the PSAT 9, PSAT 10, or SAT 11 on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

Our freshmen will be taking the PSAT 9, a test administered by College Board. This PSAT 9 helps prepare our students for the SAT college entrance exam. Please take a moment to read the included PSAT 9 parent letter for additional information.

10th graders will take the PSAT 10 exam, while not an exact duplicate of the SAT, which will provide a good introduction to the SAT exam that students will take next year as juniors.

As part of the College Board resources, students can opt into Student Search, a service that provides free information about admission and financial aid from colleges, universities, and scholarship programs. More than 1,200 educational organizations participate in this access opportunity. Students wishing to be a part of the Student Search will be asked to sign a consent form. Included is a copy of the PSAT 10 parent letter and PSAT 10 Student Data Consent Form to discuss with your student and make a decision about this option. Students will be filling out these forms and completing pre-administration bubbling in Seminar during the week of March 18, 2019.

11th graders will take the SAT 11 college entrance exam. Similar to the PSAT 10, students will be tested in Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. In addition, many students have registered to take the essay portion of the test. On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be required to report to their designated testing room at Dakota Ridge by 7:20 A.M. Testing will begin promptly at 7:30. Testing for all students should be completed by 11:45 A.M. with the exception of those juniors taking the essay portion of the SAT. Their testing time will be extended by approximately one hour. When students are dismissed, they are free to head home as no regular classes are being held on this day. Should students not be able to arrange for transportation after the testing, the expectation is that students will bring their own lunch (lunch will not be provided this day) and remain on campus. Busses will run their normal afternoon pick-up. Seniors will have no school on this day.

If you haven't heard, the Career Explore program at Dakota Ridge is in it's 2nd year of existence. It's a wonderful program that provides multiple pathways for our students. DRHS CE is all about "hands on" education, that gives students opportunities to explore careers, earn internships with industry partners, and even secure full time positions right after graduation! We can't make all this magic happen without immense support from community/industry. Take a peek at the attached flier, and please consider donating auction items or attending Star Night on Thursday, May 2 at the Denver West Marriott.
