Teen Mental Health Film Series Coming to Dakota Ridge

Angst movie clipart

Good mental health allows young people to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them. The consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood and can limit the opportunity to lead fulfilling adult lives. Please join us for three nights this spring as we bring this very important film series to Dakota Ridge High School. Admission to each of the nights is free, but donations to Jeffco Public Schools Day Without Hate fund will be collected. The first of the three movies will be shown in January.

January 28, 2020 @ 7:00pm DRHS Auditorium - Angst
Angst is an IndieFlix Original, documentary designed to raise awareness around anxiety. The film includes interviews with kids, teens, educators, experts, parents, and a very special interview with Michael Phelps. The goal is to start a global conversation about anxiety and mental health. Most importantly we hope the film will help people identify and understand the symptoms of anxiety disorders and encourage them to reach out for help. Angst screens in schools, communities, and theaters around the world. The film and corresponding materials provide tools, resources, and above all, hope. Click here to view the trailer.

The Teen Mental Health series is being sponsored by the Dakota Ridge High School Counseling Department and the Dakota Ridge IB Parent Association.

Make Your Voice Heard (MYVH) Student Survey

For the past decade, Jeffco Public Schools have administered the Make Your Voice Heard survey, every other year, to students in grades 2-12. Dakota Ridge will begin administering this survey beginning Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Seminar classes.

The MYVH survey gathers information on three key areas of student engagement within the school: social/emotional, behavioral, and cognitive. Engagement in school is critical to academic performance and interest in continued education.

Please take a moment to open the included letter and please feel free to contact the school with any questions.
