BIO

Although I love language and teaching, my favorite part of the job is my students!  The purpose of learning languages is to create and enhance connections and relationships with new people and other cultures.  My own travel and study abroad in Mexico ignited my passion for Spanish in high school and college, and since then I have adored building friendships with Spanish speakers from around the world and those residing here. I look forward to investing in my students to help them extend their own relationships and experiences every year!

I have been teaching Dakota Ridge Eagles since 2006 and have taught all levels of Spanish here, but I taught language for 10 years prior to that in various states.  One year I also worked for a lawyer as a bilingual paralegal assistant in downtown Chicago.  My teaching experiences out of Colorado include:

Texas and Delaware (HS:  Spanish)
Illinois (4th grade thru HS: Bilingual, English as a Second Language & Spanish)
Mexico (4th grade & undergraduate level:  English as a Foreign Language)

My priorities outside of work include spending time with local family and those out of state.  My "second home" is at the lake in Northern Michigan or with my husband and our adult daughters wherever they are adventuring!  I love to travel; my most recent international trips include Cuba and Spain. Family, friends, music animals, yoga and time outside keep me calm and entertained.  I thoroughly enjoy watching sports, but unfortunately I am just not gifted athletically.

So...Go DRHS Eagles, MI State Spartans (my parents' alma matar) and Roll Tide (our daughters' alma matar)!
