I have been the Technology Coordinator for Dakota Ridge High School since the 2000-01 school year.  There have been many changes both in my position and the new technologies that keep us on the move.
This year we have instituted the 1:1 Chromebook Connect Initiative, aka 1:1 CCI.  For a more detailed explanation of this see the Our School 1:1 link. We are starting this at DRHS with our incoming 9th grade class this year.  Each student in this class purchases a Chromebook for both school and home use.  A Chromebook is used for Internet applications using the Chrome browser. Teachers of this Freshmen class are putting them to use in their classrooms for research and using Google Docs.  Students can access their documents and teacher websites from anywhere they can get an Internet connection. There are many advantages to this like savings from not having to purchase MS Office because Google Docs has their versions mirroring these apps. Access to their documents is a huge benefit. When we do our computerized testing like MAP the Chromebooks excel and reduces our need for and use of computer labs.
In November I installed Lenovo's LanSchool lab management software throughout the school including all Chromebooks.  Teachers can now see all of the student's Chromebooks screens in their class and monitor student progress live. When their class is over, the teacher dismisses that class and the student again has full control of their Chromebook. When students take their Chromebook off campus, the LanSchool app is off. Teachers are just now being trained on how to use LanSchool as a useful classroom teaching tool.
Jeffco IT is installing an Internet filter on all Jeffco distributed computers including these Chromebooks. This filter will remain on when the Chromebooks leave campus. This filter will apply when a student logs into Google with their Jeffco Google account on any computer.  It will stay on until the Google Chrome Browser is closed.
We are in the infancy stages of this program and are refining our procedures and expectations. This is a learning experience for Jeffco schools. In the south area, Columbine, Chatfield, and Dakota Ridge High Schools are all involved in this. It is a movement catching on fast and will soon be including elementary and middle schools that are in our articulation area. There's a lot of collaboration happening among interested schools.  Next year will bring new opportunities and challenges with the 1:1.
